The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that President Bush overstepped his authority in ordering military war crimes trials for Guantanamo Bay detainees.
The ruling, a strong rebuke to the administration and its aggressive anti-terror policies, was written by Justice.John Paul Stevens, who said the proposed trials were illegal under U.S. law and international Geneva conventions...read on

Listening to John Stossell try to attack Al Gore and his movie about Global warming was rather comical. He had no facts or documentation to back up his points, but he did have a few choice words handy, He called us alarmists.

John says the serious scientists scoff at the notion of global warming, but did he name one? I must say though that he did talk to the scientists so that's enough for me. What was that study he quoted again? Tyson Slocum came on the segment and did actually present some facts, but that didn't stop Stossel's onslaught, no sir. He had the final say and dug deep into his word well and called us all---Socialists who hate Capitalism.
Why would anyone smear Jack Murtha? Keith Olbermann clears it up for us.

Olberman: The attempt to Swift-Boat Pennsylvania Congressman and honored Vietnam Vet Jack Murtha has not only failed... but the boat was swamped and the malefactors washed overboard. Our third story on the Countdown: A Florida newspaper admits it misquoted Murtha's comments, which had allegedy included "his" belief that the U-S was the greatest threat to international peace.
The newspaper has now admitted its reporter -- or somebody -- screwed up and screwed up badly. Murtha was merely quoting an international poll that said many people in many other countries felt that way.
The paper has corrected its Killian Memos-level mistake...
The Conservative propagandists who then slammed Murtha, like Bill O'Reilly?
Don't hold your breath.

Legendary music producer Arif Mardin died Sunday night. This was a very classy man, much loved by all the artists he ever worked with.
And the artists he worked with were as diverse an array as anyone has ever tackled. For decades, he was a star in-house producer with Atlantic Records, making records with Willie Nelson, Aretha Franklin, the Bee Gees, Average White Band, Barbra Streisand, The Rascals, Phil Collins, John Prine, Halls and Oats, George Benson, Average White Band and dozens more...

Keith takes on the SWIFT program and all that attack the NY Times. It may not have been such a secret after all. Count all the times Bush told the world that he was chasing down the terrorists money. Looks to me and Roger Cressey like there has been no damage done by the NY Times. Just another con game for this administration,

The Bugman was back on Hardball today and he was really just a swell guy. Delay is totally one hundred percent against any type of leaks---except---if they concern Karl Rove. Tom actually said that Valerie Plame wasn't even a CIA agent. It sounded like the "Who's on First," Abbott and Costello routine once Delay got caught,

Matt:
In terms of the vote, well, we pretty much expected this, though we weren't sure whether we could keep the Dems unified. They held under intense lobbying pressure from the telecoms. I think it's fair to say that we've reversed the momentum on this issue, turning it from a little noticed 23-8 subcommittee vote in the House on April 5 to today's 11-11 tie in Commerce Committee and clearly what will be a contentious floor fight. There's now a primary challenger against Al Wynn in MD-04, Donna Edwards, and the Verizon/AT&T/Comcast/Cox giants are in the process of turning their brand names into Walmart level territory.
