March 30, 1981 - Coming Unglued.
Thirty years ago today we were witness to yet another assassination attempt unfolding on our TV screens. This time it was President Reagan. But none took it to the point of hysteria nearly as well as ABC News Anchor, the late Frank Reynolds.
Here is a clip of the moment Reynolds was told that the President wasn't okay.
Frank Reynolds: Speak up! Speak up!! My God!!
Lest we all forget.

My first reaction on hearing about the assassination attempt was, "The president has been shot and that is bad, bad news". I despised the SOB, mind you (and still do). But first and foremost, my concern was for him as a human being and President of my country, and politics be damned.
Had the same scenario unfolded after GW Bush Big Lied the nation into unleashing war, my reaction would have been entirely different. I would not have given a rat's ass about the man himself. I would only have dreaded the prospect of Cheney assuming the office.
That does not reflect well on me, I'll be the first to admit. But there it is.
