(60ft.Dolls - After four years and God knows how many tours and hangovers, called it a day)

60ft. Dolls were a Welsh band that came and went in a seeming nanosecond, although they did go from 1992-1996 (the lifetime of an average computer). A three piece hard rock band that were pegged as something akin to a Welsh version of grunge, 60ft. Dolls quickly established themselves as hard playing, hard touring and very hard drinking. The latter being their rumored reason for demise. They nonetheless cranked out several singles and two albums (one official and one more or less posthumous) before packing it in and heading (one imagines)off to rehab.

Loser, is off "The Big 3", their first album which came out just as they were giving up.

You have admit, they were fun while they lasted.

(Trashcan Sinatras - They're working on it)

Another band you can file under "criminally neglected" (at least here in the States). Trashcan Sinatras have been around since the mid-90s and are still turning out great tracks. They have a new album out "In The Music", which is getting good reviews and they have been doing a lot of touring this year, both in the U.S. and Australia and all points between. Perhaps because they are from Glasgow they have escaped being pigeonholed as Britpop, but they've also escaped being recognized as one of the more influential voices in the alternative/indie genre.

This track, Welcome Back is off their 2004 album Weightlifting and it's typical of the kind of wordplay they are so good at.

I suspect it's only a matter of time before they stop being overlooked and start being enjoyed and respected for just how great they are.

One hopes.

5 Most Underrated '90's Rock Acts

(I'm in a list-making mood.)

1. Juliana Hatfield
2. Quicksand
3. King's X
4. Shudder to Think
5. The Posies

The "underrated" list is always a tough one and sure to start an argument. I always try to exclude bands that either were big commercially but were underrated critically (Alice in Chains) or short-sellers that are nonetheless beloved (Jawbreaker). All the acts on my personal "no fair" list dealt with or continue to deal with playing to rooms that were three-quarters full and a lifetime of two-and-a-half star reviews.

Juliana Hatfield tops the list for me for really taking the worst of that -- a couple singles that were minor hits followed by a string of albums each better than the last, each garnering less attention. 2005's Made in China is certainly the best eighth album that I own, and I own AC/DC's For Those About To Rock (We Salute You).

Who are your favorite overlooked '90's acts?
