The loose-lipped killer of Bin Laden is openly disparaging his own country for not putting boots on the ground to overtake Mosul and prevent the fall of Tikrit to ISIS forces.

March 2, 2015

In November, 2014, Time Magazine published an article on Navy SEAL Rob O'Neill:

Robert O’Neill may have fired the shot that killed Osama bin Laden, but he was merely the triggerman. The U.S. and members of its military—thousands of them—killed the 9/11 mastermind. The fact is that O’Neill and those telling his story seem to miss that point.

There is no “I” in “team,” coaches and military commanders are fond of saying. But that rule apparently applies less and less if you’re at the “tip of the spear” like the Navy SEALs who allegedly killed Osama bin Laden in his lair in Abbottabad, Pakistan, on May 2, 2011... O’Neill’s words in the Washington Post (“I watched him take his last breaths”) seem more screenplay than reality, tainted with a sense of gloating that rarely is becoming in anyone wearing a U.S. military uniform. It is the selfless nature of American troops that makes their work honorable.

Where else would you expect to find another self-aggrandizing critic of the Obama Administration's foreign policy than on Fox and Friends? This morning, O'Neill visited the curvy couch to give his take on why President Obama is at fault. O'Neill's take on events in Abbottabad is highly contested, to say the least.

He has claimed that he has a strategy that would overtake Mosul in a matter of days, but the Obama Administration is balking at the idea of putting much-needed boots on the ground. The Mosul offensive will likely take place sometime this summer, but what's puzzling O'Neill and the perpetually perplexed people on the couch is why, suddenly, did the Administration scrap plans to go into Tikrit recently? Maybe O'Neill is no longer privy to intel? That seems pretty plausible.

Sounding an awful lot like Donald Rumsfeld, O'Neill told The Washington Times “Apparently these guys have a short memory, and they’re daring us to come back, and when we do, it will be over in a matter of days,” said former Chief Petty Officer Robert O’Neill.

In today's segment that could also be dubbed, History: Ignore It and Repeat It, Brian Kilmeade explained,

"a lot of these people fighting to take back Tikrit are the same people you were fighting against during the Surge. These are Shi'ite militiamen, they are not even part of the Iraqi Army."

No kidding, so we helped cause the sectarian unrest that Saddam Hussein once had a handle on?

Did this ex-SEAL ever consider that perhaps, President Obama sees the danger in going in with both barrels loaded and firing indiscriminately on the wrong people? President Obama has the foresight not to rush into a potentially deadly and ineffective ground game, while this self-aggrandizing critic predicts he could get the tactical Iraqi cities of Mosul and Tikrit within a few weeks. O'Neill claims there are ample forces already in place in Iraq, but the "leadership" is in question, as it always is on GOP-TV. He does admit it is very hard to tell who identifies with the Shi'a (of big, bad IRAN!) and who sympathizes with elements of ISIS and Al Qaeda, so he tacitly agrees it is a tough call all around.

Unfortunately, viewers won't consider why O'Neill made an appearance: to stoke fear and doubt in the hearts of the viewers that the Obama Administration is soft on terror and too sympathetic with Muslims. An ex-SEAL who violated his oath to keep classified operations confidential is more trustworthy to Fox News than an administration that is acting pensively in a highly volatile region, a powder keg we created. Here's yet another example of patriotism gone awry.
