Harry Enten kindly doing the math: "You know, he’s selling those bibles – those ‘God Bless the U.S.A.’ bibles. He would need to sell more than 400,000 of those to reach $25 million.”

Joe Biden's prolific fundraising and Trump's own legal woes have led Trump to turn to some unorthodox methods to raise much-needed cash. CNN data analyst puts it into context.

CNN data analyst Harry Enten laid out just how much merch Donald Trump would have to move to match the expected $25 million haul of President Joe Biden’s fundraiser in New York on Thursday.

In recent weeks, the former president has started hawking $400 Trump sneakers and a $60 version of the King James Bible that also includes U.S. founding documents and other patriotic material. Trump is trying to raise money for his campaign and also his mounting legal fees, which he has been paying with money from campaign donors.

Enten noted that Biden’s huge $25 million haul will exceed Trump’s fundraising numbers for the entire month of February, which netted the former president $20 million.

“It’s a large chunk of change, a historic chunk as the Biden campaign was hinting at,” Enten said. “And again, a little bit more context, how much would Trump need to sell to reach $25 million? You know, he’s selling those bibles – those ‘God Bless the U.S.A.’ bibles. He would need to sell more than 400,000 of those to reach $25 million.”

As he spoke, a graphic appeared indicating Trump would need to sell 416,736 bibles to reach $25 million.

And even with that it probably won't be enough, as Biden just held a fundraiser with former presidents Obama and Clinton with tickets that cost an eye-watering $500,000 a piece.
