(L-R: Donald Rumsfeld, Pres. Ford, Rumsfeld's Trusty Assistant Dick Cheney)

Back in 1969, Donald Rumsfeld went from being a member of Congress to becoming a political appointment of Nixon's to head the rather Orwellian sounding Office Of Economic Opportunity. It would seem to be reasonably harmless, but in 1970 Rumsfeld added Dick Cheney to the mix his assistant. Several different versions emerge as to what exactly Cheney's role was and how he got there. Like everything, it's shrouded in shadows and mystery. But suffice to say, things started changing shortly after.

Here is an interview with Rumsfeld on Face The Nation from December 7, 1969, a few months before the entrance of Cheney, but noteworthy for the fact that Rumsfeld never lost the gift for mangling a perfectly good sentence.

Wow

Everything that is wrong with politics today, can be summed up with this post. Talk about "experienced" politicians.

briefing from the trenches of Sheepledom.

That's Cheney?
You mean that he actually looked human at one time?
Hard to believe.

I wonder if he was already demented back then.

"... the art of warfare ... will be vastly different than it is today ...
“combat” likely will take place in new
dimensions ... advanced forms of biological warfare that can “target” specific
genotypes may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a
politically useful tool."

From 'Rebuilding America's Defenses' the leading policy "white paper" of the
Project for a New American Century (PNAC)

he was selling chemicals to Sadaam Hussain?

Say, check out Young Rumsfeld. He was a handsome devil.

(Emphasis on "devil".)

And you'll notice the appropriately generous and fierce combover Cheney's sporting. How silly of me, Dick -- turns out you've got a full head of hair, alright!

Between this and Nixon's pardon, the true question that needed (and still needs) to be asked of Gerald Ford is, "Idiot Patsy (e.g. George W. Bush) or Savvy Accomplice (e.g. George H. W. Bush)?" (Or both, e.g. Alberto Gonzalez?)

here's where it went from there, when reading that article you will be amazed to find out it was published BEFORE we went to war in Iraq, allow me a snippet, here's the setup before the quote;

nixon just brokered the treaty of detante, cheney and rumsfeld would have NONE of it and CREATE FALSE DATA to undermine that treaty (sound familiar?);

But Nixon left amid scandal and Ford came in, and Ford's Secretary of Defense (Donald Rumsfeld) and Chief of Staff (Dick Cheney) believed it was intolerable that Americans might no longer be bound by fear. Without fear, how could Americans be manipulated? And how could billions of dollars taken as taxes from average working people be transferred to the companies that Rumsfeld and Cheney - and their cronies - would soon work for and/or run?

Rumsfeld and Cheney began a concerted effort - first secretly and then openly - to undermine Nixon's treaty for peace and to rebuild the state of fear

now check out the next snippet;
They did it by claiming that the Soviets had a new secret weapon of mass destruction that the president didn't know about, that the CIA didn't know about, that nobody knew about but them. It was a nuclear submarine technology that was undetectable by current American technology

yup, same story as the Iraq crap they made up, if you remember the movie "hunt for red october" it was based on this fantasy, listen to what the cia said about their rediculous claims;

The CIA strongly disagreed, calling Rumsfeld's position a "complete fiction" and pointing out that the Soviet Union was disintegrating from within, could barely afford to feed their own people, and would collapse within a decade or two if simply left alone.

that's right!

just like it happened in the run up to war in Iraq, these criminals simply want unrest, they're war monguers, sociopaths who's interest is solely the profit from the death and depravity caused by war

so that's what they were doing there in case you didn't know it

make certain you read that entire page and be amazed that information was known BEFORE we went to Iraq, we KNEW cheney/rumsfeld LOVES them some made up crap to have war

are the kind of people that keep the world in chaos. These two would have fit right in with the rise of the Nazi party in Germany. These two are certified sociopaths.

You'r not the first to say that. Hopefully we'll get a chance for professionals to determine why they did what they did after they are prosecuted.

'The Office of Economic Opportunity' ... how apt.

The Dynamic Duo of Dick and Don strike again. Both of them are evil psychopaths.

I second that - great comments. Let me know if you have any requests for other audio to post.

Gordon

I await their hanging.

Have to say, that photo makes me long for the days when the White Guy Club ruled. Not.

It may be "Orwellian-sounding," but it's a liberal creation, not something Nixon cooked up.

It was, in fact, the centerpiece of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. Sargent Shriver was the first head, and it was one of the most progressive government agencies of the 1960s.

was the biggest goon, thug and asshole in the history of the presidency. I know Bush was almost on the same plane, but Tricky Dickie was the model for Axis of Evil.

The damage done to this country will take years to undo.

Oh, man, that photo says it all. Rummy: Mr. Torture himself. Ford: McPardon (even of someone not yet under indictment). And Cheney: the biggest prick ever to occupy the vice-presidential manor.
