The UK was going through a series of strikes with power outages everywhere. Meanwhile, in Laos the air bombings continued. Riots broke out in South Vietnam over the accidental killing of a 13 year old by U.S. troops. Pakistan was gearing up for a new government headed by Ali Bhutto. The Mylai massacre trial of Lt. William Calley was continuing. Former hostage British Diplomat James Cross, released just days prior, gave his first press conference and described the ordeal. And somewhere around all this Christmas was creeping up.
