Astor Piazzolla - reinvented the Tango.


Over to Paris this week for a special concert featuring members of the Orchestre Philharmonic de Radio France with Gilberto Pereyra, Badoneon in program of music by Astor Piazzola and a composer inspired by Piazzolla, Graciane Finzi. The concert was recorded live in Paris by Radio France Musique on January 15th.

Astor Piazzolla is generally acknowledged as the man who reinvented the Tango and reignited interest in the genre all over the world. But particularly in Europe where his concerts were legendary and his recordings sold in the millions. Since his death his popularity and the popularity of the form he rejuvenated have only gone on to greater heights and his music is now played in concert halls throughout the world as a result. The concert presented today is one of many throughout the average year, paying tribute to a genius and astonishing talent.

As always, the concert is in two parts. The top player features the Finzi along with Piazzolla and Jose Bragato arrangements of popular Tangos. The bottom player features Piazzolla: Adios Nonino and Libertango.
