The Rolling Stones' Rock And Roll Circus is an extraordinary film, documenting a show from December 1968 that featured the likes of Jethro Tull (with Tony Iommi), Taj Mahal, The Dirty Mac (Clapton/Lennon/Richards), and this performance by The Who along with other notable acts of the time. The Rolling Stones subsequently shelved the movie and record until its release in 1996, presumably because The Who blew them off of the stage. I agree, but don't know if many acts could ever live or have ever lived up to this unadulterated frenzy of rock and roll prowess. Dig.
