Senate Finally Passes Unemployment Insurance Extension

Yes, the Senate finally passed the unemployment extensions today, with the vote falling largely on party lines, 59-38.

Still, I wouldn't count on seeing those extenders actually happen anytime soon. Here is the most pathetic paragraph I've ever seen, courtesy of Time Magazine:

The Senate approved a bill extending long-term unemployment benefits for five months. Six Republicans joined Senate Democrats in extending unemployment insurance with a vote of 59-38. The measure is expected to be dead on arrival in the House.

Pathetic, but accurate.

If the House were actually working on job creation instead of repealing Obamacare for the zillionth time or crawling into women's reproductive systems, maybe I'd be less disgusted. But they don't give a damn about jobs, and have no intention of accomplishing anything for the remainder of their term.
