Hundreds Of NYPD Officers Turn Backs To Bill DeBlasio At Officer's Funeral - (Updated)
December 27, 2014

You remember that time that Mayor de Blasio asked the protesters standing for Eric Garner and Mike Brown to stand down until after the officers' funerals out of respect for the families?

Evidently Pat Lynch and his crowd doesn't have the same respect for those slain officers and their families, because this picture is what happened at Officer Rafael Ramos' funeral.

Again, I need to remind everyone that Lynch is stoking up the bitterness because a contract is being negotiated right now. Don't imagine for a moment that this is some form of sincere outrage over the mayor instructing his children to obey police.

Here's some commentary from observers' tweets:

That last one is the one that resonates for me. The NYPD just did what the haters at Westboro Baptist Church do. It's an embarrassment, and every NYPD officer who didn't indulge themselves that way should be embarrassed by their colleagues and push Pat Lynch completely out of any position of power.

Update:

DeBlasio's office responds:

Saturday afternoon, the mayor's office released a statement responding to the insult.

"The Ramos and Liu families, our police department and our city are dealing with an unconscionable tragedy. Our sole focus is unifying this city and honoring the lives of our two police officers," said de Blasio spokesman Wiley Norvell.

There is understandable anger in the community:
