I was talking about this on Nicole Sandler's show yesterday. Christie was never cleared - the state legislature limited their investigation was limited because they couldn't interview everyone they wanted and they didn't want to jeopardize the federal grand jury probe:

Federal prosecutors in New Jersey have subpoenaed Gov. Chris Christie’s re-election campaign for documents relating to government meetings that were allegedly canceled with Jersey City’s mayor after he declined to endorse the governor, according to people familiar with the matter.

The subpoenas, sent by U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman, are another sign that the yearlong probe into former allies of Mr. Christie has broadened beyond matters directly related to the George Washington Bridge lane closures.

A spokesman for Mr. Christie declined to comment. A lawyer representing the re-election campaign didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The lane closures caused five days of gridlock in Fort Lee, N.J., in September 2013. Former allies of Mr. Christie, a Republican, allegedly closed the lanes to punish Fort Lee’s Democratic mayor for not endorsing him for re-election.

Five of Mr. Christie’s allies have since resigned from their jobs. No one has been charged with wrongdoing, and Mr. Christie has said he had no involvement in the incident and condemned it.

Last January, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, a Democrat, accused the Christie administration of canceling meetings set up with his office and senior Christie cabinet members after he indicated he wouldn’t endorse the governor for re-election.

The meetings were offered by the Christie administration in 2013, but were all canceled within days of each other after Mr. Fulop indicated he wouldn’t support the governor, he alleged.

The Christie administration accused Mr. Fulop at the time of being partisan and prioritizing his own political agenda. Mr. Fulop is said to be eyeing a run for governor in 2017.
