'Broad City' Is The Best Comedy On Television
February 20, 2015

There are many hilarious TV shows running now, but after watching the brilliant and funny Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer put on their madcap show called "Broad City," I've found the best.

I caught up on season one via Amazon Prime, (It's also available on Hulu and some VOD services) and although it took me an episode or two to fully acclimate myself to their form of humor, I was sucked in. At first I was cringing in embarrassment for these two twenty something ladies because what they were doing was so, and I hate to use this word, "unexpected," and then I got it. These women follow no rules except their own IDGAF and infuse a physicality to their performances that you have to see to believe.

Here's Willa Paskin of Slate trying to describe these ladies:

Broad City, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer’s series on Comedy Central, finishes its triumphant, hilarious, silly, bizarre, stoned-out-of-its-mind first season tonight. If you’ve been watching, you know how great this season has been. If you haven’t been watching, I am so jealous, because you get to start watching TV’s funniest comedy right now.

They told Letterman the other night that they got their start at the Upright Citizens Brigade Improv Theater and it shows. There isn't one episode that doesn't contain a certain bit of magic, whether they are getting paid 200$ to clean an apartment semi-nude while Fred Armisen looks on in a diaper or when Abbi turns into a cool 1940's cabaret singer named Vera everytime she drinks herself into blackout. And there's weed. Lots and lots of weed and drug induced dreamscapes.

Slight spoiler:

*Warning, the above clip might not be for everyone's taste because it deals with sex in the only way they know how, but it is a form of comedy that is all their own.

Jeremy is the hot neighbor next door that Abbi has been fantasizing about since she laid eyes on, but she always messes things up until they finally do hook up in season 2. What happens next knocked my off the couch.

And no, this isn't a paid promotional article written under false pretenses. I'm just a fanboy, OK?
