Police: Maybe Freddie Gray Severed His Own Spine!
April 29, 2015

It never fails. As soon as one of these excessive force stories breaks, there's always a cop ready to leak something suggesting that the victim did it to themselves, just like Victor White. In that case, the coroner and police department said he managed to shoot himself with a magic gun while his hands were cuffed behind his back.

Tonight the police leaked a document suggesting that Freddie Gray tossed himself against the walls of a police van in order to sever his own spine.

A prisoner sharing a police transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators that he could hear Gray “banging against the walls” of the vehicle and believed that he “was intentionally trying to injure himself,” according to a police document obtained by The Washington Post.

The prisoner, who is currently in jail, was separated from Gray by a metal partition and could not see him. His statement is contained in an application for a search warrant, which is sealed by the court. The Post was given the document under the condition that the prisoner not be named because the person who provided it feared for the inmate’s safety.

The document, written by a Baltimore police investigator, offers the first glimpse of what might have happened inside the van. It is not clear whether any additional evidence backs up the prisoner’s version, which is just one piece of a much larger probe.

So we have a leak, based on the belief of another prisoner who shall remain unnamed? Sure, that's the ticket, because Gray was in terrific shape when he was tossed into that van.

Video shot by several bystanders has fueled the rage in West Baltimore. It shows two officers on top of Gray, their knees in his back, and then dragging his seemingly limp body to the van as he cried out.

And then he got into the van and magically got his superpowers back, tossed himself around in the back of the van and severed his spine, resulting in his death.

I also have a bridge in Alaska to sell you if you believe that noise. Watch how they had to practically pour him into the back of that van and tell me if there's even a shred of credibility to this fairy tale.

Here's another Stupid Internet Rumor flying around, probably started by some putz over at StormFront.org or something. Oops, no! It was from Free Republic, only a small step better. According to the fact-devoid person who wrote the factless article, now removed, Freddie Gray had some sort of accident and spinal surgery just before his arrest. Not true, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Baltimore attorney William H. "Billy" Murphy, who represents the Gray family, confirmed that the Howard County case was connected to the lead paint lawsuit.

As children, Gray and his two sisters were found to have damaging lead levels in their blood, which led to educational, behavioral and medical problems, according to a lawsuit they filed in 2008 against the owner of a Sandtown-Winchester home the family rented for four years.

While the property owner countered in the suit that other factors could have contributed to the children's deficits — including poverty and their mother's drug use — the case was settled before going to trial in 2010. The terms of the settlement are not public.

The Free Republic website said Wednesday that Gray's "life-ending injuries to his spine may have possibly been the result of spinal and neck surgery that he allegedly received a week before he was arrested." The article also said the injury was a result of a car accident and cited thefourthestate.co as the source of information. The story did not cite any court records.

Free Republic has since removed the story from its website and could not be reached for comment.

The referenced website is run by entirely anonymous people writing entirely fictitious material as grist for the freepers and racists out there to use to smear the victim.

No low is too low.

Update: Sean Hannity leaped right on the opportunity, because it's all Obama's fault!
