Take a few minutes and watch Rachel Maddow explain why Trump isn't new to American politics at all, illustrated with NBC News archive clips of the George Wallace campaign. Take Rachel's challenge and close your eyes while listening to Wallace. You'll realize it's like you've heard it all recently. Which you have.

Rachel tied it all up this way. Via Raw Story:

“Donald Trump has something that Republican voters like. They liked it the last time that he offered it to them for a short period of time,” she said. “And now they like it this time, as well — it’s the same type of significant popularity. It just hasn’t gone away this time around because he hasn’t stopped running this time around like he did in 2012.”

When I watched the two of them side-by-side, I found myself filled with gratitude that we never had a President Wallace. I feel exactly the same way about never, ever having a President Trump.

It's worth the 19 minutes to watch the whole thing. Plus, the news archive footage is, at least to me, really a walk down memory lane. It's as if we're back in the 60s all over again.
