Trump's Excuse For Sexist Statements: 'I Didn't Know I'd Run For Office!'

Donald Trump is fighting through Wisconsin for the magic 1237 delegate number and finding it harder than he thought it might.

The Republican path through Wisconsin runs through right-wing radio host Charlie Sykes and the Bradley Foundation, neither of which are likely to endorse a Trump candidacy. Ted Cruz and Scott Walker are more their speed.

During an interview with Sykes this morning, Trump was asked about the sexist things he says about women. His answer was typical Trump, which means it won't matter to his True Believers and will offend everyone else.

So why, despite all that, did he make the comments? “I’ve been a person that’s been in the entertainment business and a very big person in business and I’ve been quoted over the years by everybody… I became a celebrity,” he argued.

“Are the rules different for celebrities?” Sykes pressed. “Are celebrities allowed to insult women?”

“Well the rules aren’t different, but I never thought I would run for office,” Trump said. “And many people, Howard Stern would interview me and everybody would be having fun, and the women would be laughing.”

The interview was contentious in other ways as well, but aren't they all when Trump is involved?

Here's the full interview, for your listening pleasure:

Oh, and before anyone believes what he says about how he treated women, read this article written by the woman he hired to build Trump Tower.

While wanting to be liked was a vice in me, Trump will tell you that everyone likes him. This is not the case. He can be very charming and ingratiating, but he is not nice. In my experience, he is nasty to the people who work for him. He can be very abusive and curt. He has an incredible temper and he lashes out at everyone, including Ivana.

Of all the people I know who worked for or with Trump, including contractors, lawyers, architects, employees, only a very few actually like him. Some respect him, some don't. Many hate his guts.

Sounds like a majority in this country, doesn't it?
