Nate Silver must have read Driftglass' Saturday post calling for journalists to commit acts of journalism and taken it to heart.

Speaking with Brian Stelter on Reliable Sources Sunday, Silver said, "In my opinion, someone who is a demagogue won a major party nomination. And when that's true, we should all be saying what happened to our institution where someone who ran on a lot of misinformation, and we're the information industry, and became the nominee of a major party?"

Nate Silver has been under fire for missing and underestimating Donald Trump's rise from the start, but his point is well-taken. Had journalists actually taken a hard look at Donald Trump and been critical of him, as opposed to breathlessly reporting on his rallies and minimizing his racism, perhaps things might have been different.

Or, perhaps not.
