Instead of being the Republican candidate for President, it's possible Donald Trump needs to sit in a quiet room with a therapist and work some things out. He is becoming more and more unhinged with every passing day, and I'm not sure he will make it to the Republican convention at this point.

In Atlanta today, Trump went so far off the rails he landed in the middle of the ocean. In the span of one speech, he claimed the Russians had "tippy-top" nukes, while ours were in sad, sad shape. This, Trump claimed, means that America will be no more. Poof, in a mushroom cloud.

And then there was the rant about state dinners. State dinners!

“Forget the state dinners that cost, by the way, a fortune,” said Trump. “When I saw a state dinner, it’s [in] a tent, which is actually unsafe. It’s a tent on the White House lawn. And I actually called up the Obama administration and I said, ‘I will build you [for] free, a $100 million or more ballroom, we’ll choose five great American architects, we’ll design something everybody likes… instead of having a tent, which looks like hell.”

Did you also know it takes $1 million dollars to "turn on" an aircraft carrier?

Later in the day, he introduced conspiracy-theory-of-the-day. Today's whopper is that the DNC hacked itself as an excuse to drop their whole oppo book online.

Of course, this is insane. There's no reason why they couldn't drop the opposition file in its entirety without admitting to a hack, but there is no conspiracy -- no matter how utterly bizarre -- that Trump doesn't believe.

In a statement from the Trump campaign, he said, “We believe it was the DNC that did the ‘hacking’ as a way to distract from the many issues facing their deeply flawed candidate and failed party leader."

In other news, Trump told the leaders of the Republican party to sit down and STFU, please. Just let him do the talking.

After admonishing the leaders of his party to "get tougher," Trump hammered home his point. “Don’t talk. Please, be quiet. Just be quiet, to the leaders, because they have to get tougher, they have to get sharper, they have to get smarter, and we have to have our Republicans either stick together or let me just do it by myself.”

Heil, mein Führer.

Unhinged, and sinking like a stone across the country, placing Republicans on the downticket in danger of losing otherwise safe seats.

So here's the question. Will Trump actually last until the convention, or will he just have a total meltdown and be pushed out? How will that play with his white nationalist base, who are arguably the bulk of what remains of the Republican base?

I'm starting to think he won't make it to the convention, but will either have some sudden "health crisis" or other meltdown. But even if he does get past the remaining nomination hurdles, how will he handle the pressure through November?

Moreover, how will the country?
