The Indy Star is reporting that Gov. Mike Pence will be Donald Trump's VP pick.

Gov. Mike Pence is dropping his re-election bid in Indiana to become Donald Trump’s running mate.

IndyStar has confirmed that Trump plans to announce Pence as his selection for vice president, ending a weeks-long vice presidential casting call during which Trump vetted a handful of high-profile Republicans.

Trump's national campaign spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, said "a decision has not been made." A formal announcement is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday in Manhattan.

The long-awaited decision upends the political landscape in Indiana and at least partially remakes the Trump campaign in Pence’s image.

We all know Trump's addiction to the media so it's very possible this is a bait and switch so he can make a bigger splash tomorrow, but the Indy Star wouldn't report this if they didn't have good sources.

Goodbye Newtie and Christie. You served your purpose well.

Update: (Karoli)

CNN is reporting that Trump hasn't actually called Pence to offer him anything. So this feels like a head game people in the campaign are playing to see what the reaction to Pence would be. My longshot is Jeff Sessions, but it certainly could be Pence.

It'll be interesting to see how they reconcile Pence's full-throated support for the TPP with Trump's populist cry against it.

Update 2: (Karoli)

As I suspected, this is a lot of smoke right now. While everyone is nattering about Mike Pence, the RNC Rules Committee is meeting to quell the growing rebellion among the ranks of the delegates. All the speculation about a VP pick is turning attention away from this mess of a rules meeting, which I am currently watching.

Update 3: (Karoli)

CNN has confirmed that Pence is the guy.
