Sources Say Comey Declined In Early October To Link Trump Campaign, Russia To DNC Hack
October 31, 2016

FBI Director James Comey applied two different standards on disclosure for investigations into email scandals, according to reports.

CNBC reports that on October 7th, Comey concluded that "a foreign power was trying to undermine the election." The same source goes on to state that, "he believed it to be true, but was against putting it out before the election."

The reasoning behind Comey's decision was a concern that the FBI would be seen as interfering with the election. The official elaborated, saying "if it is said, it shouldn't come from the FBI, which as you'll recall it did not."

However, a different standard was applied when the director decided to fire off that letter to 8 Republican chairman in the House and Senate last week. According to the same article, his thinking was that "By doing a press conference, and personally testifying and giving his opinion about the conduct, he made this about James Comey and his credibility."

"You can see why he did it, from his perspective, once he had had that press conference," the source added.

Oh, so this was all about Saving Director Comey. Forget the election, forget the interference of foreign powers in our elections, because Director Comey blew it in July. Got it.

UPDATE: This report from Slate is disturbing.

From what I read here, it appears that Trump servers appeared to be in secret communication with Russian servers.

Earlier this month, the group of computer scientists passed the logs to Paul Vixie. In the world of DNS experts, there’s no higher authority. Vixie wrote central strands of the DNS code that makes the Internet work. After studying the logs, he concluded, “The parties were communicating in a secretive fashion. The operative word is secretive. This is more akin to what criminal syndicates do if they are putting together a project.” Put differently, the logs suggested that Trump and Alfa had configured something like a digital hotline connecting the two entities, shutting out the rest of the world, and designed to obscure its own existence. Over the summer, the scientists observed the communications trail from a distance.
