Donald Trump has reportedly named Monica Crowley to be his deputy national security adviser for strategic communications. Nobody except Crowley and her fellow conspiracy-theory lovers should feel more secure as a result.

Crowley, who has just given up her Fox News gig to serve in the Trump administration, has long been one of Fox's biggest Trump cheerleaders. But she has an even longer history of wild conspiracy theories. A few of our favorites:

She accused CBS’ Bob Schieffer of offering secretly-coded campaign suggestions to Obama advisor David Axelrod (October 12, 2010).

She has opined that the War on Christmas is really part of a secular progressive plot to “strip organized religion, God and faith out of the public square” so that government can step in and “fill that void” (November 27, 2012).

She hyped a baseless conspiracy theory that a DNC staffer was murdered by the Clintons (August 10, 2016).

And my personal favorite: that time she blamed the Obama administration for her decision not to eat a cheeseburger (June 28, 2011).

But her conspiracy theories about foreign affairs are no laughing matter. Media Matters has a good roundup of them and more:

Crowley On Trump’s Anti-Muslim Immigration Proposal: “This Is A Holy War. This Is Essentially The Constitution Versus The Quran On Every Level.” (December 10, 2015)

Crowley Commenting On Story About Fears Of Refugees In U.S.: “ISIS, Come On In!” (February 17, 2015)

Crowley Supported False Claim Syrian Refugees Participated In Paris Terror Attacks. Crowley twice tweeted out the false claim that Syrian refugees were involved in the November 2015 Paris terror attacks. In fact, European officials explained that the attackers were all European Union citizens. [Politico, 10/4/16]

What’s even more disturbing is that she’ll be working under General Michael Flynn who is also an anti-Islamic conspiracy theorist. And Crowley is an admirer of Trump’s attacks on the press (while advancing her own).

Watch Crowley’s bizarre conspiracy theory about CBS’ Bob Schieffer above, from the October 12, 2010 The O’Reilly Factor.
