The debt ceiling looms; if not sorted, it could cause a catastrophic default on the US debt obligations and collapse economies around the world.

Speaker McCarthy has been embroiled in infighting over trying to come up with a framework for a GOP budget.

He's working with members of the Freedom Caucus. How's that going for you, Kevin?

The NY Times reports that McCarthy has no confidence in House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington, who is responsible for delivering that framework which contains spending cuts that Republicans have said they will demand in exchange for any move to increase the debt limit.

The toxic relationship between the two has also been complicated by Speaker McCarthy's deteriorating relationship with Rep. Scalise.

Mr. McCarthy has told colleagues and allies that he cannot rely on Mr. Scalise, describing the majority leader as ineffective, checked out, and reluctant to take a position on anything, according to three Republican lawmakers with direct knowledge of his private comments who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss them.

"Checked out" sounds about right for most House Republicans when it comes to, you know, actually governing.

Outside of committees investigating fringe MAGA conspiracies, Republicans are in complete disarray when it comes to acting as a competent political party.

Vote them all out.
