A former school board member in Wisconsin, John Harter, had been charged with three counts of election fraud for falsifying his voter registration:

Last week, 28-year-old John Harter abruptly resigned from the Hartland Lakeside School Board.

On Friday, he was charged with three counts of election fraud after the DA's office said he falsified his voter registration address for the last three years.

According to the criminal complaint, Harter told others that he filed the candidacy documents using his father's address in Pewaukee because he visits his father's house when he is not working and that is the house he grew up in.

But that is only the beginning of the problems for the Harter family.

According to the report, Harter's father, Tom Harter, is the former president of the same board that his son served on. The senior Harter stepped down from the presidency in February, but continues to serve as a board member.

In addition, according to the court documents, the younger Harter actually lives in Brookfield, Wisconsin, about five or six miles away from Pewaukee and well out of the school district.

It sure appears that John Harter falsified his voter address in order to say he still lived in the district and could continue to serve on the school board. Time will show if the gets charged with misrepresenting himself in order to serve on the board.

Also, it would be nice to know if his father's resignation from the presidency had anything to do with his son using his address to serve. Surely, the father knew his son didn't live in the district but went along with the charade for three years. He needs to be held accountable as well as his son.
