Senator Ron Johnson went on Newsmax to mewl about David Weiss being made special counsel to look into Hunter Biden. RoJo said that the Weiss appointment was "a complete joke" and one more example of the supposed corruption of the Department of Justice. RoJo then rambled on to bitch about the "sleazy, sweetheart deal," which is a phrase that must have been heavily emphasized when his handlers were coaching him, since RoJo kept repeating it over and over in that one minute.
But just like the other Republicans, his complaints fall empty considering that RoJo got exactly what he wanted. RoJo was one of the Republican senators who signed a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding Weiss be made special counsel:
On Monday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) joined U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and 31 of their Republican colleagues in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding special counsel protections and authorities be extended to U.S. Attorney David Weiss to conduct the investigation into Hunter Biden.
“Given that the investigation involves the President's son, we believe it is important to provide U.S. Attorney Weiss with special counsel authorities and protections to allow him to investigate an appropriate scope of potentially criminal conduct, avoid the appearance of impropriety, and provide additional assurances to the American people that the Hunter Biden investigation is free from political influence,” the senators wrote.
Doubling down on the irony, RoJo and company, who were so concerned about political influence, are the ones applying it the most in this case.
Why RoJo's head hasn't exploded from the hypocrisy yet is a mystery.
