There aren't many remarks that aren't offensive from newly minted House Speaker Mike Johnson if you look into his past. From the Louisiana lawmaker's anti-gay stance -- some remarks he claims to not remember making -- to everything he blames on gun violence except for the easy access to firearms in our gun saturated country, Johnson brings nothing new to the table. Nothing.

Just after 18 people were shot down in cold blood, Johnson told Fox News host Sean Hannity that guns were not to blame for the slaughter, and added that it was “not the time” to talk about gun control.

Wrong. This is the perfect time to talk about gun control, you weirdo.

“At the end of the day, the problem is the human heart. It’s not guns, it’s not the weapons,” Johnson said. “We have to protect the right of the citizens to protect themselves. That’s the Second Amendment, and that’s why our party stands so strongly for that.”

White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates responded to Johnson's lack of empathy and problem-solving at another gut-wrenching time in this country.

“We absolutely reject the offensive accusation that gun crime is uniquely high in the United States because of Americans’ ‘hearts,’” he said, according to Politico. “Gun crime is uniquely high in the United States because congressional Republicans have spent decades choosing the gun industry’s lobbyists over the lives of innocent Americans.”

Fact check: true.

Republicans will blame anything and everything except for guns. Johnson has, in the past, even blamed abortion and feminism for gun violence. Sure, buddy, blame women that it's most men who are shooting people down in the United States. If I roll my eyes any harder, they'll start spinning like dice in my head.
