CNN and other networks propped up Donald Trump, a former reality TV show star, for years as if he were a typical candidate. So, it's no wonder that Manu Raju interviewed Long Island fabulist Rep. George Santos to air on Sunday. Santos told Raju that he would run again even if expelled from Congress. Get out of our lives, George, and take CNN with you. George, like Donald, is like that clingy guy from the 5th grade who couldn't let go.

"And then they put someone else in the seat; you're gonna run in 2024," Raju asked George, or whatever his real name is.

"Absolutely," the serial liar proudly said.

"Can you win a primary, given all these things are lined up against you?" the CNN host asked. "And the general election, this is a Biden-leaning district, and you have all these issues against you."

"Could I have won the general election last time?" George asked rhetorically. "Nobody said I could, but I still tried."

"It was a different situation," Manu said before ending that interview clip.

Well, I guess that was supposed to be a teaser for the interview about a guy who lies so fucking much that he's now saying that his voters won't care about those lies because they didn't know they were lies back then?

IS THAT WHAT HE'S SAYING?

I need some help here, lovely people.

"Yeah, defiant all the way, we talked about his criminal indictment against him, his fabrications from his past," Raju said. "He downplayed any of that having an impact on him, especially the lies that he admitted telling about his past. He said voters don't care about that."

George said, "Nobody elected me because I played volleyball or not," adding, "people elected me because I said I'd come here to fight the swamp."

Aren't the swamp people supposed to be the liars and not vice-versa? Jinkies, you guys, I think we've been conned with that Drain the Swamp rhetoric.

It would have made the news everywhere if Raju got up after throwing his notes in the New York liar's face, then walked off the set, leaving him there by himself where he should remain shunned from society forever and ever -- Amen.

Seven or eight years ago, watching reality bend into meaningless dribble on TV would have been unheard of. Then Donald Trump came along, and the networks saw the potential for clickbait. Years of clickbait. And why did we post it here at C&L? Because the media needs to be called out now and then. Because CNN took a rightward turn, and it's grotesque. It's like we have Breitbart on every channel now, but this version is sprinkled with 4Chan memes.

It's as if Donald uncorked the bottle during the Before Times, and nothing can be put back into place.

Can you help us out?
