Nothing says Republicans know their abortion bans are wildly unpopular like “pro life” Cruz ducking questions about the Texas anti-abortion laws he championed.

You’d think such a publicly anti-abortion senator from Texas, up for re-election next year, would be eager to comment on the Texas Supreme Court’s ruling that forced pregnant Kate Cox to either jeopardize her health and fertility by giving birth to a child with a fatal abnormality or jeopardize her health by fleeing the state and getting an abortion after she was 20 weeks pregnant.

But no.

REPORTER: Senator, are you supportive of the Texas Supreme Court’s ruling in the Kate Cox case that prevented her from getting an abortion after she learned her fetus was not viable?

CRUZ: Just call my press office.

REPORTER: I actually have, for two days now, and I still haven’t received an answer.

CRUZ: Thank you.

We know why Cruz doesn’t want to talk. He knows his views are unpopular, that the ruling and the work of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was shockingly cruel, and that they may mobilize women against Sen. Cancun next November. But he doesn’t have the basic human decency to come out in support of women like Cox and those without her resources thus forced to risk their health and give birth to a doomed fetus for the sake of bureaucrats’ “pro life values.”

Cruz is worse than a coward.
