When you think about it, when 2000 got started none of these were really around.

It's always interesting to look at just how much has changed in a ten year period of time, especially when the ten years in question happened so recently.

I ran across this documentary from the BBC that originally aired in January 2010, and it was a look back at what has changed in our society since the millennium got started. From all appearances, a lot.

Aside from the fact that Homeland Security became the new phrase we all got to learn in a hurry, the concept of Social Media was something almost unheard of when the decade got started. E-mail was certainly around, and AOL had those really dreary chat rooms, but Facebook didn't exist, nor did My Space and a lot of others.

Sometimes we get so close to things we naturally assume they've always been there and we just didn't notice. Another part of the documentary discusses Global Warming and where China is figuring in the decade.

Interesting stuff. And if you've forgotten (which I can't imagine you wouldn't), maybe this will act as a refresher course.

Can you help us out?

For nearly 20 years we have been exposing Washington lies and untangling media deceit, but now Facebook is drowning us in an ocean of right wing lies. Please give a one-time or recurring donation, or buy a year's subscription for an ad-free experience. Thank you.
